Parking Demand vs Supply: An Optimization-Based Approach at a University Campus

Parking management has always been a major concern for universities and other activity centers. Nowadays, many are suffering from lack of campus parking capacity. To tackle this problem, it is necessary to take lots assignment into consideration, regarding intercampus users’ needs. These users have different ages, physical characteristics, expectations, administrative positions that should be considered before any assignment. Here, new method proposed optimize those where staff (academic administrative), in contrast students, allowed park inside the area. For purpose, first, probability using specific lot by each group determined. staff, done based on their choices, revealed relative frequency lots. This students can calculated fuzzy inference system model. develop model, survey conducted extract students’ preferences, spaces Afterward, an integer linear programming model with objective function maximizing employed, considering several related constraints. The applied Shahid Bahonar University Kerman (SBUK), Iran, as case study. According results, concluded help reduce wandering time finding appropriate space both students. In addition, application increase satisfaction level regard management.
